My baby boy!

I was admitted to the hospital on 10/14/2010, they started pitocin at 1600, my water broke at about 2330 and we had a beautiful baby boy at 1823 on 10/15/2010. He weighed in at a healthy 9lbs 14oz, he is 23inches long. Sadly, he had a fever when he was born and is now in the NICU with pneumonia. He is improving day by day, they still have him on oxygen because he is having apnea spells. It's very low, the same thing we breathe but it's forced to remind him to breathe even when he's in the deepest of sleep. He will be in the hospital until Tuesday the 26th of October, as of right now. He will come home with an apnea monitor but hopefully he will not have had an episode for days before he comes home with us! We have tons of pictures HERE.

Last day of work

My last day of work was Sunday (but I went in Monday to cover a little while in the morning). I'm not exactly sure if I'm happy or sad about it. I've got enough PTO to be out for 6 weeks, but Sly wants me to stay out 8 total. If I get the PTO donation I might stay out longer then that.

I'm going to be doing a lot of "stuff" to fill my time until the baby comes. I've got a few patterns picked out that I really want to do for the baby. But I'm also looking at taking some of the free time and making some stuff to sell, just to see if it really would sell. I've got both knit and crchet patterns picked out, here's a few of 'em.

Ravelry links:
Blanket Bob
Baby Ball (I've seen this pattern a few different places, they're all pretty much the same. I want to make mine a little different and probably out of Black and White only.
Saartjes Bootees (I love the buttons on it)

Blogs:
Down Cloverlaine (Awesome, awesome bib patterns)
With a Tangled Skein (Love the no scratch mittens and hats)

There's a few links. I've also made a couple patterns for dish scrubbies and things like that, that I want to make more of to sell. I need to find my pattern book (MIA since moving) and get them up here.

Puppy Hat

I went to the OB's office today, I'm still not dilated about 1.5cm, but I am 70% effaced. She's hoping for 3cm next week, but she also said she wouldn't be surprised if I went a week over due. I found out some good news about visitors while I'm in labor, they don't care how many people there are, as long as they're not obnoxious. :) That means I don't have to have people in and out of the room all the time or pick only a few people to be there. My OB said I needed to start drnking Red Raspberry Tea, so I'm going to go make myself a cup now.

I made this hat for my baby. I think it's a little bit big for an infant but I'm sure he'll get a chance to wear it before it gets warm again. I made it using THIS pattern and Caron SS in the color "bone." I'm going to make another pair of scratchless mittens to go with this hat, I'm going to start on those tonight. Here's a few pictures.

Wedding and Knitting!

As I mentioned before Sly and I got married on 08-20-2010 and here's a few of the pictures we got at the court house. I'll have more pictures soon!

I also finished the first knitting project in a looooong time, I feel like it's been ages! Here are some heelless/toeless socks I made for wearing around the house. I wanted to finish these so bad so I could start on some baby hats for the wee one. I'm going to make a little pumpkin crocheted hat and a knitting simple baby hat. Here's a couple pictures of the socks I made.

I'm 33 weeks along now! I'm getting more and more excited, I can't wait for the baby showers, then I can figure out exactly what I need. I'm going to start packing a hospital bag here soon, just incase... I hope it will be many, many more weeks before baby Sylvester arrives, but I don't want to ignore the obvious and not be prepared either. Everyone has been wonderful sending us gifts, from people we see often to people we're lucky if we get to see once a year. I hope everyone gets to come after he's born so they can all meet him. But for  now it's time to get off my butt and get something done today, back to work tomorrow. :( http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c262/LadyMienna/crafts/013-2-1-1.jpg

So tired...

Sly and I got married on Friday, August the 20th! Woohoo! It was wonderful. Unfortunately Mom didn't make it there in time to see it, but it was nice having just Sly and I there. My Dad couldn't be there due to work and neither could Sly's parents, so I'm kind of glad that no one else was there. She was pretty bummed, but she'll see it all again next year when we have our ceremony, anyway.

I'm increasingly tired these days, not sleeping well, leg cramps, etc. The joys of being 33 weeks pregnant, I guess. But I only have 7 weeks to go until I meet our new family member! I'm hoping I go into labor on 10-10-10, because it would be neat. We have a friend that's birthday is also that day, to make it even better.

I'm finishing up the heelless/toeless socks I'm making so I can start on some baby stuff. I have a cute pattern for a pumpkin hat and another quick baby hat. I'd like to make some mittens/socks too, since he'll be super tiny during the cold months. I'll post pictures as soon as I'm done!

busy week!

So, we're getting married on Friday, which means we had to work Monday. I didn't feel like doing anything today so I laid around until almost 3pm, sleeping off and on.

Tomorrow I go for my next OB/GYN appointment and then I'm going to go get waxed. So that should be exciting! We don't have much going on Thursday and then we get married Friday and then photos and a massage. I've never had a "professional" massage before, so that'll be nice. :) We plan on having dinner at Oscars in Summerville. But its just after midnight and I'm exhausted, g'night!

Quick update

Just want to post a quick update before bed. I'm still sick, sadly. Finished my antibiotic today, so I'm assuming it's not bacterial. But I did finish one scrapbook page, completed another one and made 3 thank you cards for gifts sent for the baby. I think they came out great, and I'm going to send them off tomorrow.

We had our last repeat ultrasound this week, and our little one still had his hands covering his face. He was moving around plenty, but he'd drop one hand and raise the other. I was a bit disappointed that we didn't get any really good pictures of his face but we'll see him in a couple months, so I can wait! Sly's Mom bought us a crib, Cassie has sent us a baby wrap to carry him around in and my grandmother sent us clothes. I'm getting more and more excited by the day. I'd say I can't wait to meet him, but my biggest fear is going into labor early, so I hope I don't meet him until he's ready (at 40 weeks).

We also applied for our marriage license today. We'll go pick it up tomorrow and make an appointment with the court house to get married on Friday the 20th. Sly and I both commented on how "short" the lady was when we went in there. She acted more like we were applying to kill someone, over applying to get married. And to top it off, we had to go to the coroners office to apply! Aaawwwkkward.

Sick, sick, sick.

So, I've been sick since about Sunday, started out with a mild sore throat and now it's full blown sore throat, runny nose, headache, feel like I've been beat. But this too shall pass! I haven't done much of anything but the repeat U/S and OB/GYN appointment because of it, though. I haven't done any scrapbooking, knitting, crocheting or anything else. We did go to the grocery store and some other stuff but that's been about all I can manage right now.

We had our repeat ultrasound this week, and he still wouldn't give us a good picture of his face! He's a stubborn little thing! We got some very cute pictures of his feet and he finally showed us "the goods." We're going back next week to try one more time, hopefully he'll give us some cute smiles. We scheduled it for later in the day, since he doesn't seem to be very active in the morning and I'm going to drink a gallon of fluid the day before and then some caffeine/juice the day of. Here's the picture of his feet we got:

Monday, Monday!

Ok, so I didn't take any scrapbooking pictures yet, because I have one house page I'm almost done with and one more to make and I want to take pictures of 'em all together. I'm going to go on a font search tonight and see if I can find some cool ones to do journaling with. I've got really horrible hand writing so it just doesn't look good when I write something out. I need to get some better hand writing!

But I do have pictures to share! I have some 3D Ultrasound pictures. We'll get more tomorrow, I've been drinking my water today, though I haven't quite made it to a gallon. I think I'm plenty hydrated, I just hope I can keep from coughing while she's trying to scan. I've caught myself a little cold over the weekend, sore throat, mildly congested nose, slightly light headed and mild headache. Nothing that's going to kill me, just enough to make me feel like crap. What do you say we see some pictures now?

I can't seem to link to the photos for the full version right now. The second picture down has a link and you can click HERE.

Scrapbooking

I did some scrapbooking this week (I'll try to get pictures Monday) and it was a lot of fun. It takes me a LONG time to get anything done, though. I want to try 47 million different layouts before I decide on one. My first page is very plain, muted colors, no stickers (other then the address). I didn't have a lot, because I didn't want to buy a lot but of course that changed very quickly. I've got all I need, I think, for at least three more pages, I've already sorted out the stuff and got it all together.

We had our 3D Ultrasound this week, but our little man wouldn't move his arm away from his face so we didn't get enough pictures of his face, the tech said. So, we rescheduled and we're going back Tuesday to get some more pictures. I can't wait, I love seeing him, I have to choke back tears every time I go in there. I'm going to get those pictures uploaded Monday at the latest, I meant to upload them this last week but I was having an emotional roller coaster for a week and didn't get a whole lot done that I set out to do. Oh well, we'll blame it on hormones!

We have exactly 20 days until we go to the court house and get hitched! Woohooo! I'm excited. :) Sadly, my Dad can't be there, which is a real bummer but he'll be there next year when we do a ceremony. He'll be coming into town this next weekend, after an interview in GA, I hope he gets this job! That would be so great, I'd love for him to be closer when the baby is born. :)

Sewing this week

I got one project done this week. It didn't come out anything like I'd thought, though. It's a case for Sly's drill bits and what not. The next one I make will be so much better. I learned a lot making this one. When we first laid it out we laid it and measured the exact space needed between drill bits... but we didn't take into account the fact that the fabric has to be able to come up for something to slide into the pockets. That's part of why I love crafting so much, you always learn something with every project. Onto the pictures!

We went to AC Moore yesterday and I finally broke down and bought some scrapbooking stuff. I got an album for the baby and quite a few baby boy stickers, but I obviously don't many pictures to put in that album yet. So, in the mean time I'm going to start working on a "house" album, probably do a couple pages for the house in the building process, then some now that we're getting stuff built and moved in. I think it'll be a neat idea because I'll get to keep updating as we move in more, once our desks are built, one the baby room is set up, etc.

I made some Apple Cinnamon Muffins this week and they turned out really, really bland. They weren't bad, the apples were good, but there just wasn't a lot of flavor at all. I bought five apples, thinking it would take a lot to get a cup and a half of finely chopped apples but it only took one, so I have lots of apples left over! The next time I make them I think I'll use the recipe that has graham crackers in the dough and then cinnamon/sugar on top. I made more banana muffins this morning, those seem to be a favorite around here, which makes me happy.

Sly and I went to the library today and I got books about scrapbooking, baking, figuring my serger out and another pressure cooker cook book. The pressure cooker book has a recipe for three cheese ziti that looks goooood. I also really want to try making black beans soup, because I love it and I think it'd take a lot less time to cook then it does just boiling 'em down for hours.

I went to the OB/GYN today for my 28 week checkup. Everything looks great, I mentioned still going hours without feeling him, so my OB put me on a monitor and his heart rate never dropped or went crazy. So everything looks great. I gained 8lbs since my last visit! Holy crap! I need to watch the eating and start walking, I don't want to gain too much weight. From now on I'll be going every two weeks, which means we're getting closer and closer.

Next time I post I'm going to try to remember to post some about Sly and I getting married. We're getting married on August 20th, which is a Friday. We're going to do a court house wedding since I'm pregnant and then on our first anniversary we're going to have a ceremony, which will be a Saturday.

New template and a new week

Yay for having 4 days off a week! This weekend was hell, for several reasons, but it's over with and I'm ready to enjoy my days off. We're going to do some house improvements, I want to do some sewing and knitting and probably some beading too. I also have an OB/GYN appointment this week for a GTT to make sure I'm not diabetic. I will post more details later, Danny just called and wants to go to lunch so we're going to head out to Summerville and eat some Ryans, woohoo!

And just for good measure, a cute kitten picture.

The house is coming together!

We've got our bedroom set up, curtains up in the bedroom and bathroom. We also have curtains downstairs, and the table and two chairs put together. We've gotten most of the food from the trailer, but we haven't moved the deep freezer yet. We'll do that Monday, I hope. We've got more stuff to move, but it's happening.

The cats are getting more settled, the rabbits see fine with their new home and maybe Ra will get a new cage next week. Here's a couple pictures of the geese we have wandering around, apparently they had babies recently. Speaking of animals, we still have the kitten Sly found. We're litter training him now, which is going fairly well but not awesome. I'd say he uses the cat box 85% of the time, so I watch him pretty closely so if he starts to look or a spot to go to the bathroom I can carry him to the cat box and scratch his paws.

I'll get more pictures soon and I'm going to try to get Sly to take a couple pictures of me now that I'm really starting to show. The baby is kicking up a storm, mostly in the evening hours. Sly finally got to feel him kick the other night, the little "flutters" are starting to turn into knock out, drag out, battles, hehe.

update!

What a week... We had another ultrasound, the AC died, took a trip to Ikea in Charlotte (and to pick up our furniture from Rooms To Go, which turned into two trips to Charlotte), the AC died again. So I'm sitting at home right now, with the AC repair man, and Sly's on his way home from Trip 2 to Charlotte. We had a great time at Ikea, it's a huge store and we found lots of awesome stuff we want to get, but we were good and only brought home our bedroom furniture and a cutting board.

On the baby front, the ultrasound was awesome. It was by far the longest we've had. We got to see the four chambers of the heart, the kidneys, stomach, bladder, brain, boy parts, legs, arms, hands and feet. :) We confirmed it is a boy, and we're about 19 and a half weeks, so about half a week ahead of what they're guessing. They're not changing our due date, just because it's within a week of the date they've set. On to the pictures, the good stuff!

U/S

Our next ultrasound is Monday! I'm super excited! It's the anatomy scan, so it should last about 30 minutes, from what I understand. Making sure all the pieces and parts are there and hopefully finding out for sure if its a boy. Though, I'm pretty sure, I'd like someone to confirm it for me.

I've been doing a fair amount of crocheting, not as much as I could be because Facebook apps are like free crack. I'm not sure why but I've settled into crocheting far more then knitting. I think it's that it takes very little time to see progress with crochet. Oh well, food for thought.

Weight gain

I gained another 2lbs this week! Woohooo! I hope I'm not gaining too quickly, but I'm glad to see any weight gain at this point.

Recent crocheted items

I've got no new news about the baby, other then gaining two pounds last week, woohoo! I'm going to weigh in again on Sunday, hopefully I'm regaining some of the weight lost. We have our next appointment on May 20th, which I'm going to try to reschedule to the 18th because we want to hit Ikea and look for furniture on the 19th and 20th.

I've been working on some crochet stuff recently, working out details and patterns. I'm going to try to sell some stuff on Etsy.com, but I'm not looking for big money or anything. On to the pictures!

Crochet bag that's kicking my ass. It's supposed to be a rectangle, I think (the pattern is translated from a japanese chart, so I'm not 100% sure). I'm asking the ladies on Craftster.org to see how there's looked as it was coming along, they already helped me figure out the first two rows, so hopefully they can help me out here!
Nylon for dish scrubbers, this stuff was tough to cut up, I had to get Sly's help to hold, then mark it. It doesn't like to sit still for anything, I clamped it all the clothes pins you see in the back ground. I tied a bunch of the pieces together and wrapped them around an old thing of thread to make it easier to work with.

Cotton and Nylon dish scrubber. I haven't used it yet, but I've heard great things about them.
Little around face scrubber with popcorns. Making this pattern kind of kicked my butt, the first one I made came out too tight on the popcorn row, so it didn't lay at all flat. But I worked it out and I'm happy with the newest one. I'm going to hope both kind of clothes again in better colors, but I had a lot of this natural colored cotton so I'm practicing with that. :)

You can click on all the pictures for a closer look, they're linked to Photobucket.

Doppler

We got the doppler today, and it's awesome! It's very clear, very easy to find the heart beat. I let my Mom listen to it over the phone and she heard it just fine. I'm going to try to find a way to record it from the computer but I haven't put much thought into it yet. When I do I'll try to get it uploaded so you can hear it!

Fetal Doppler

I ordered a fetal heart doppler from Amazon.com today! I'm super, super excited! I didn't really have any plans to buy one but Sly and I were talking about it after they used one at our OB appointment yesterday and he said they were $500-600 bucks! I was shocked. So I went on Amazon and looked and found one with great reviews for $60 bucks, awesome. I know I won't be able to feel the baby kick for another month or so, and I'm over 98% of the nausea/feeling like crap. So it will be a wonderful reassurance and experience for Sly and I to both hear the heart beat. I hope it helps Sly feel more involved, I know it's odd for him when I wake up wanting to throw up the last two days worth of food but no "real" evidence of why I've turned into a seeming hypochondriac. Anyway, tomorrow is Sly's b'day so I'm making him snickerdoodle cookies!

12 hour shifts

These 12 hour shifts seem to be taking more and more out of me. I can't decide if its the pregnancy or just being frustrated with work. Either way, I'm exhausted by 4-5 oclock on Sunday! At least we had time to go to Sonic today, mmm, frito pie!
